Standard Lightning Detector for Pools & Spas with Mounting BaseEnjoy your leisure time at the pool while knowing the TALOS pool lightning detector will keep you aware of approaching lightning or storms. Lightning commonly strikes water, and since water conducts electricity, a nearby lightning strike could kill or seriously injure a swimmer. Don’t be caught off guard while having fun in the pool, spa, or hot tub!Mounting the Device:Mount the lightning detector a minimum of 3 feet away from cell phones, wearables, or other devices emitting electrical noise. The detector will go through a sequence of all colors when it detects electrical noise interference. If this happens, relocate the detector. How it Works:When lightning is first detected (up to 25 miles), the detector will flash all 8 LEDs for 5 minutes. To save battery life, after 5 minutes of lightning detection, the detector switches to blinking every other LED for the remaining time that lightning is detected (red, blue, or green depending on the distance of the lightning).Features:
Up to 25 miles range
Waterproof
The BRIGHTEST visual alerts: 3 colors to indicate the distance of approaching or departing storms

Note: It is necessary to replace batteries as soon as the lightning detector indicates the batteries are almost dead. The detector will beep and flash the LED twice indicating that batteries need to be replaced. This alert is given every 10 seconds. If you are not using the lightning detector, make sure you remove the batteries prior to storing the detector. Owner's Manual (pdf)Brochure (pdf)
NMEA2000 Network Lightning DetectorTALOS, the global leader in lightning detection, announces the release of the SFD-1000-N2K Lightning Detector, specifically designed for the marine industry. Designed to be fully NMEA 2000 compliant, the SFD-1000-N2K integrates seamlessly with the NMEA 2000 CAN bus and displays warning alerts across all the vessel’s MFD screens. The SFD-1000-N2K can be installed during the boat-building process or as an aftermarket added feature to safeguard against the life-threatening dangers of lightning. This version is engineered to be embedded within the boat, hidden from sight, and integrated into the NMEA 2000 network – the best part is NO DRILLING NEEDED! No external power or wiring is needed. Just plug and play to the N2K network! Both visual and audible alerts indicate the distance of lightning strikes (from 25 nautical miles away and closer) and detect both cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-ground lightning strikes, departing or approaching. Features:
Detection of both cloud-to-ground and cloud-to-ground lightning activity within a 25-mile range
Plug-and-play connectivity
Alerts are given via the NMEA2000 digital network
The same technology used in expensive weather stations
3 different alert messages
25 nautical miles
16 nautical miles
5 nautical miles
All clear message after 30 minutes of no lightning strikes
Low cost
Compact design
High accuracy
IP67 waterproof
Low power consumption
OEM tested and approved
Safer boating from life-threatening lightning
Standard Lightning Detector with 18"x24" Safety Information SignDon’t be caught off guard while enjoying your leisure time at the pool. The TALOS® safety sign with the attached lightning detector is a great addition to community and at-home swimming pools. When mounted, swimmers can easily see lightning alerts and instantly know the distance of the lightning.Choose from two convenient operation methods: battery-operated or wired. The battery-operated detector is a quick and easy setup; just install 4 AA batteries and it’s ready to go. The wired device includes a DC power supply that plugs directly into any wall outlet and eliminates the need to change out batteries.Mounting the Device:Mount the sign a minimum of 3 feet away from any devices emitting electrical noise to avoid false positive signals. The sign can be placed on any nonmetallic flat service.

In-Motion Lightning Detector for Boats & Watercraft with Mounting BaseIf you frequently spend time out on the water on your boat, jet ski, or kayak, then you need to learn about the TALOS lightning detector for boats and watercraft. Set sail and leave your worries behind knowing the TALOS lightning detector is on hand tracking when potentially dangerous lightning is in the area. The TALOS lightning detector for boats and watercraft alerts users of lightning strikes up to 25 miles away from a storm. If your boat or watercraft is the only one in the vicinity when lightning strikes, the odds of being struck go way up. Most strikes occur between noon and 6 pm. Keeping the TALOS® lightning detector on board will keep you aware when lightning is in the area.Mounting the Device:The lightning detector detects low-level signals from lightning and must be mounted a minimum of 3 feet away from cell phones, wearables, or any other devices emitting electrical noise. If the detector goes through a sequence of all colors, this indicates that it is detecting electrical noise. How it Works:When lightning is first detected (up to 25 miles), the detector will flash all 8 LEDs for 5 minutes.
